Transporter Bridge Abseil, October 2009
On the 10th of October, six intrepid Tellermate staff climbed the 240 feet to the top of the bridge and proceeded to abseil off into thin air, all in the name of charity. The team did fantastically well, particularly as two of the team members used the opportunity to conquer a fear of heights. All team members successfully completed the abseil, one even returned for a second attempt after tangled ropes on his first descent meant he had to be lowered rather than abseiling.
The team raised over £800 for the St David's Foundation who provide specialist care and services for people, their families and carers facing a progressive life-threatening illness which is no longer curable. St David's Foundation are based in Newport but also care for people in the Caerphilly, Torfaen and Monmouthshire areas.

Bring a Pound to Work Day, April 2009
On the 30th April Tellermate joined with companies across the rest of South Wales and 'brought a pound to work'. Donations added to the proceeds of a 'guess the number of sweets in the jar' competition came to £64 which was donated to Childline Cymru. This cash will go towards the Child's Voice appeal that aims to answer more calls than ever from young people who are in distress. Each call answered by Childline costs £4 so the moeny raised by Tellermate will help to give another 16 children a chance to speak out.

Red Nose Day, March 2009
On Friday March the 13th the Tellermate HQ in Newport descended briefly into chaos as the Tellermate team undertook a 'silly dare day'. Activities ranged from selling cakes in fancy dress, dancing around the building, 'your socks or a pound' muggings and all sorts of other barely sane activities! The team raised a total of £220 which is a small but significant contribution to the £80 million that the Nationwide event raised.
Comic Relief work with communities in the UK as well as the rest of the world and small amounts can make huge differences, £2 can feed a child, who has been orphaned by HIV/AIDS, for a week; a mosquito net to protect an African family from Malaria costs £5 and £15 can send one African girl to primary school for a year. Put like this our £220 can change lots of lives.

It's a Knockout, September 2008
On Sunday 28th September 2008 the Tellermate TellerTigers team competed against 10 other local companies in 'It's a Knockout' in aid of the Sparkle appeal. The team did brilliantly and not only won the competition but raised over £800 of sponsorship money. All of the money raised at the event (estimated to be in excess of £10,000) will be used to support the development of the family facilities at the South Gwent Children's Centre. For more information about the Sparkle Appeal visit their website http://www.sparkleappeal.org/. Many thanks to local companies Belmey Industrial Supplies, Devlin Electronics, Pavecost Manufacturing and Online Packaging who kindly sponsored our team and helped them to beat their fundraising target of £500.

Sport Relief Mile, March 2008

On Sunday 16th March 2008 a team of seven Tellermate staff braved the wind and rain in Cardiff Bay to join the likes of Welsh rugby stars JJ Williams and Ieuan Evans and run the Sport Relief Mile. Not content with a mere mile our team racked up 17 miles between them and raisied a total of £338.70. Sport Relief is part of Comic Relief and the money will be used to help vulnerable people in difficult circumstances both in the UK and across the rest of the world. At the latest count Sport Relief had raised over £26 million to fund projects all over the world. For more information about Sport Relief or the projects that they fund see the Sport Relief website www.sportrelief.com.
