Scottish Banknotes Sep 2007

Tellermate have been working closely with the Bank of Scotland to ensure that our products are able to cope with the new Scottish banknotes that are being launched on the 17th September 2007. Due to new security features incorporated in the notes, the new notes will be different weights to those previously released in England and Scotland.

There will then be a gradual release programme estimated to take place over three years where old Bank of Scotland notes are gradually withdrawn. The UK notes and the Scottish notes issued by other banks are not going to be affected by this process.

In readiness, all new Tellermate models sold into Scotland from September 2007 onwards will have the new note weights stored in them unless otherwise requested. To maintain the highest level of flexibility for customers there is the option to have these notes temporarily turned off if they are not required until later in the roll out process. This means that Tellermate customers have the option to choose when to activate the new notes based on when they start to handle them; saving time and keeping the product simple to use in the meantime. The new software will also be available to customers in the north of England to ensure that their cash counting remains as accurate as it has been.

All existing Tellermate TY/TY+ and TD/TD+ models can be updated with new software to cope with the new notes. There is great news for TellerCover customers as this upgrade will be covered by your policy so just get in touch with your customer helpline representative for more details about how to get the upgrade. For all other users, the software update is available for purchase from our technical helpdesk, included in the price is the new software, equipment to upload the software, door to door delivery and a step by step guide on how to install and use the new programme.
